Referring to the scenic spots on / of Hanoi , it is certainly indispensable that the name Hoan Kiem Lake , also known as Sword Lake . Not only is it a familiar destination for locals , but any visitor to the capital also wants to once set foot of Sword Lake .
The name Hoan Kiem originates from a legend when King Le Loi was given a divine sword to ward off invading Chinese troops . After the war , the Turtle God came to retrieve the sword and disappeared in this lake , . So it was named Hoan Kiem Lake .
