Experience 'strange' at the IceHotel in Sweden

The Icehotel is a hotel rebuilt every year out of ice and snow in the village of Jukkasjärvi, in northern Sweden. This is the world's first ice hotel . When coming here, visitors will have 2 options: normal rooms or rooms made of ice. With the ice room, you will be supported with a specialized sleeping bag capable of keeping warm overnight in conditions of about -5 degrees Celsius.

After first opening in 1990, the hotel has been rebuilt every year from December to April. The entire hotel, including chairs and beds, is built from ice blocks taken from the River Torne. near. Artists are invited to create different rooms and decorations made of ice. In addition to the ice room, there is also a bar, a forest, a sauna, decorative items, furniture, etc. made from ice for you to explore at a temperature of about −5°C.

At the Icehotel, the beds are covered with reindeer fur and people are provided with special equipment to use while sleeping in the hotel. Guests sleep in polarized sleeping bags that have been tested to withstand extreme cold. The IceHotel has no plumbing, but there is a sauna on the Icehotel's premises with an outdoor hot tub.

Most of the architecture in the hotel is made of ice , including snow and blocks of ice from the River Torne. Even the glasses in the bar are made from ice. Every spring, around March, the Icehotel harvests tons of ice from the frozen Torne River and stores it at a nearby production site with a capacity of more than 900 tons of ice and 27,000 tons of snow. Ice is used to create designs of ice bars and ice glasses, by sculpting ice.

When the annual rebuilding process is completed, the hotel will have a full bar, church, main hall, reception area, plus about 100 guest rooms. Room rates start from 1500 kr (about 4.2 million VND). The hotel also has an ice restaurant to serve guests.

The Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi is known as the largest hotel made of ice and snow in the world, spanning about 6,000 square meters. Each suite has a unique design and the architecture of the hotel is changed every year, as it is always rebuilt from the ground up. Each year, artists submit their ideas for a jury to re-screen around 50 artists to rebuild the entire hotel.
Every year, Icehotel receives applications from artists around the world to design imaginative suites. In 2013, more than 200 requests were submitted by different artists with many bold ideas including theater, studio and interior design down to the smallest detail. Artists will begin work at Jukkasjarvi from November to build the suites. The Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi opens in phases, starting in December. Each week, another area of the hotel will be open to guests until early January.
